India’s First Air Train: Delhi airport has three terminals – T1, T2 and T3. Till now, passengers have to use bus or car to travel between these terminals, which takes a lot of time.
There is very good news for passengers traveling at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport. Soon an Air Train is going to start at Delhi airport. There is a plan to start an air train at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) for easy movement of passengers between the three terminals. This airport, operated by Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL), is the busiest airport in the country.
What is Air Train? When will it start?
Air train is a kind of special train that takes passengers from one terminal to another inside the airport. This train is completely automated and runs without stopping.
According to DIAL, there are plans to implement an “Automated People Mover (APM) system” at the airport. The APM or Air Train aims to provide reliable, fast and seamless connectivity between Terminal-1 and Terminal-3/2 via Aerocity and Cargo City, covering a distance of approximately 7.7 km.
